Location: Washington, DC, United States Profile: Dj Shaun Cox known internationally for his huge.......vinyl collection, and his rock hard.......beats is also known keeping the crowds coming......back for more.... Shaun began his musical career early on, writing songs in elementary school while most childern were into sports. He later picked up guitar and singing, and played in a ska band for many years before becoming a DJ. After the stress of having to work with multiple persons in bands, he gave up the band scene for turntables, relying only on himself to practice, and maintain his skill. This work ethic paid off, as in the first two years, he worked his way to throwing a weekly at the largest club in DC, Nation, where the only other succesful weekly ever there has been Buzz. Shaun has played at most of the clubs in the DC/Baltimore area, with a nice number of out of town gigs as well. Musically, His tastes focus on the sounds of Funky "Summertime" Breaks, Funky filtered House, and Downtempo hip hop/trip hop/"mushroom" jazz, and most recently has added turntablism to the mix, adding scratches and beatjuggling in his sets. Shaun just released his first record, "Dis Trixx" Vol 1., A joint venture between his label with Mojo Jones, and fellow crew-mates Divination. It is now available through most stores, and can be special ordered by emailing Globaldanceradio@aol.com for $5 plus s/h Shaun also is the host of the largest Dance radio show in the DC area called "Global Dance Radio" which has featured national djs such as Angel Alanis, Terry Mullan, Skylab2000, Simply Jeff, Gavin Hardkiss, and many others. Lately, shaun has been focusing his energies on sharing his DJ and scratch knowledge to other club/rave djs in the scene, so they can go out and learn it and do it better, so in time, he can learn from them. In his spare time, he focuses his love and energy to his daughter Reagan, and tries to be the best father he can, while maintaining his musical roots.
